Itinerary:

Daily departure: Duration: about 4 Hrs.

We will leave in the morning and will head for the South area of the city. After a short tour of 35 minutes, we will arrive at TIPON, a unique archaeological complex. We will see the most maravellous temple dedicated to water, an exceptional engineering work made by the Incas. The water source and the canals still flow with the same power as they were more than 500 years ago. This is an enigmatic and mystic place, with terraces and squares, surrounded by a beautiful landscape. This is the day that will make spiritual and meditation groups happy. We will continue very close to the Huacarpay lagoon, well-known for its biodiversity and quantity of birds, before arriving at PIKILLAQTA, an impressive fortress built with stones and mud, and that is attributed to the “Wari” Pre-Inca culture. This place was a kind of border that probably marked the borderline between the territory of Cusco and the one of Puno, before the Inca arrival. The Pre-Inca city now has about 700 edifices, 200 “kanchas” (apartments) and 504 “colqas” grocer's shops and various buildings. There must have been about 10 thousand people living there. The city has a geometric design, very harmonious and nearly perfect, divided into blocks with straight streets.

We will continue via the freeway and will then arrive at Andahuaylillas, a typical Andean village in which we will find giant Pisonay trees and a very calm square. In its main part, we can find one of the most important Hispanic monuments of the region, like the “Sistine Chapel of America”, an ancient church of the 17th century, with impressive altarpieces, monumental paintings, woodcarvings, and a roof completely covered with paintings of the period on which the gold leaves stand out. There is an altar and a majestuous choir, and one of the most ancient organs of South America, that is used to accompany the masses celebration. Trip back to the hotel.
